Product Description
We have a small volume of ‘art supplies’ available.
We’re calling them Fishy Sticks (thanks to Nick Dimelow AKA Bugman_140 for the name)
These thin rods of 100% Recycled Marine Nylon™ arise when we extrude new filament, but they are not dimensionally accurate enough to be sold as 3D printing filament. A few individual rods may also have small defects.
This is a normal thing in filament making as the extrusion line is started up, tuned, run and then shut down, but as part of our commitment towards minimising solid waste within our own manufacturing processes we try to find uses for anything that we can.
So we’ve decided to make them available to the maker community rather than pelletizing them and returning them into our closed loop. But we don’t deliberately make them, so right now we can’t commit to specific volumes being available at specific times, unless a demand emerges (we’re open to it if you guys want it).
This is the same material as our Porthcurno filament, so with the same tracability and low carbon impact.
Bundles are ~300g each and include between 150-200 individual rods of 2.85mm or 400-450 of 1.75mm diameter

Porthcurno – 100% Recycled Nylon Filament
Filament Porthcurno is our premium blend of 100% recycled Cornish Nylon, recovered from a single type of high strength nylon nets. Those nets were previously used in the MSC certified Cornish Hake fishery, consisting of 14 known boats all sailing from Newlyn.
Porthcurno – 50g Sample
Filament This sample of filament is made from our Porthcurno blend of 100% recycled Cornish Nylon 6. 50g is unlikely to be enough to dial-in a desktop 3D printer to optimum settings but it will give you the chance to test the strength and quality of the material. Only one of these sample products can be made per order.
