First Pass on Packaging

Key to the Fishy Filaments idea is to be able to use ALL the plastics that are incoming.

That doesn’t just mean the fraction that can be used as 3D printer filament but all the support gear, all the sinking nets, all the floating nets, all the ghost gear, everything !

The photos are of a first pass test on some found trawler gear donated by the Newlyn Harbour Master and Fishing For Litter (South west). In previous posts this has been known as ‘Net 3’.

As you can see, if you get it up to temperature it consolidates quite nicely, and even if you don’t quite reach the melting temperature the product still has a certain filamentous appeal to it.

The slabs are about 5 mm thick and were rendered from about 10cm thickness of shredded nets.
